SPIRITUAL TEACHER AND RECEPTIVE STUDENT

Treasure Valley Dharma Friends is pleased to present

Venerable Thubten Semkye

October 3-5, 2014

A spiritual teacher can bring a dimension of experience to our practice that books, recordings, etc. cannot really achieve.  Forming a relationship with a spiritual guide is wonderful. Books are important, but they don’t have the inspirational quality that comes from engagement with a real human being, one who is practicing the path and understands what we are experiencing. An actual spiritual mentor can help us look into our own mind at just the right moment for just the right thing. But it is not all up to the teacher. We must be the receptive student, the worthy vessel. To find the relationship we have to know when is the time to look, how to look, how to choose, and then after choosing how to relate and be a receptive and sincere student.  Venerable Semkye will guide us into an exploration of this most important dimension of practice.
