CHENREZIG PRACTICE

PLEASE JOIN WITH THE FRIENDS OF SRAVASTI ABBEY TO SPREAD COMPASSION, BENEFIT ALL BEINGS, AND CREATE THE CONDITIONS TO BUILD CHENREZIG HALL


Chenrezig Hall is a new community building and guest house that will help the Abbey community to practice and share the Buddha's teachings on love, wisdom, and compassion.


From now until the Buddhist holy day of Vesak, June 4, you are invited to meditate on Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion, and contribute to the accumulation of 21 million recitations of om mani padme hum.

Geshe Thupten Phelgye became a monk at the age of seventeen. He completed the vigorous eighteen year course of traditional studies in Buddhist Philosophy that earned him the title Geshe (PhD) from Sera Monastic University in 1973. He then went on to do further advanced studies in Buddhist Tantric tradition at Gyumeh Monastery. There, after a private audience with H.H. the Dalai Lama in 1993, he began a strenuous five-year meditation retreat in the mountains. In 2001 Geshe Phelgye was elected as a member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile. He is a world traveler for the cause of Peace, Animal Rights and Vegetarian Lifestyle.
